4 Towns BusThe 4 Towns community bus is a multi purpose, refurbished and custom designed ex-London double decker bus available for use by local community groups and organisations to extend their services in the Waveney area. The bus is also available to organisations to hire for activity and service sessions.

The bus is a mobile youth and community centre that can take advice, services and activities direct to where they are required.

4 Towns BusThe 4 Towns Community Bus was set up to bring people and services closer together by providing activities and services where none currently exists, or by complementing existing facilities.

The bus is well equipped and has been designed to cover many uses and activities and boasts the following features:

 

Lower Deck

  • Disabled access with two desk/workstations that can be used with internet accessible laptops
  • Leaflet display rack and promotional displays
  • Relaxed seating area with tea/coffee making facilities
  • Small enclosed and private confidential area for 1-1 advice sessions/meetings
  • LEAP advice laptop

Upper Deck

  • Flexible open space with air conditioning and heating
  • Relaxed seating area at front and rear
  • Fold down tables with ‘training area’ at rear for up to 12 people
  • 8 internet accessible laptops with printing, scanning & photocopying facilities
  • 42” plasma TV with cinema surround for use in all multimedia applications, e.g. DVD, presentations and training (including PC connection for desktop training purposes).

4 Towns BusThe project is managed by Waveney Community Forum and is funded by LEAP, Suffolk County Council, Waveney District Council, The Community Safety partnership and Waveney Local Strategic Partnership.

The bus is also a LEAP point offering advice on employment, training and education.

The vehicle is available for both daytime and evening use by local groups and organisations. The bus is provided with a driver who remains with the vehicle during use and also provides support for the equipment on board.
